Crwth was
founded to promote the appreciation of classical music, presenting
professional performances of chamber music throughout South Wales,
and staging educational projects.
Our aim is to develop an audience for classical chamber music,
providing regular performances by a wide variety of soloists and
ensembles.
Since 1999 Crwth has staged dozens of performances in venues in
Swansea and South Wales.
Sefydlwyd Crwth er mwyn hybu gwerthfawrogiad o gerddoriaeth glasurol
drwy berfformiadau proffesiynol o weithiau siambr drwy gydol De
Cymru, a llwyfannu cynlluniau addysgiadol.
Rydym yn anelu i ddatblygu cynnlleidfa ar gyfer cerddoriaeth siambr
glasurol drwy berfformiadau cyson gan ystod eang o unawdwyr ac
ensembles.
Oddiar 1999 mae Crwth wedi llwyfannu dwsinau o gyngherddau yn
Abertawe a De Cymru.
Programmes are chosen to incorporate well known mainstream works and composers while often including less well known, and often more challenging, music.
The music of contemporary composers is regularly performed in Crwth concerts. These composers have included Alun Hoddinott, Alan Bush, John Metcalf, Christopher Weeks, Mervyn Burtch, Lynne Plowman, Rhian Samuel, Damian Rees, Michael Parkin, John Reeman and Adrian Williams.
The inclusion of young performers and composers in our programmes - such as the soprano Elin Manahan Thomas, the Benyounes Quartet and composer Damian Rees - is a continuing feature of our concerts.
